Abstract

Objective: to characterize the Brazilian scientific production on the quality of life of people living with human immunodeficiency virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Methods: bibliometric study with 20 dissertations and 18 theses available at the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. The empirical material was submitted to descriptive and inferential statistics using the R-Project software. Results: studies on the theme increased from 2006 to 2012. The majority came from the Northeast and Southeast regions and was mainly conducted in the Nursing and Psychology areas. The use of specific instruments to evaluate the quality of life of people living with human immunodeficiency virus or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome was evident. Conclusion: there is a significant Brazilian scientific production on the theme, with evidence regarding the physical, social and psychoemotional dimensions of the quality of life of people living with human immunodeficiency virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome to the detriment of the cultural and spiritual/religious dimension.
