Abstract

This article will analyze the fishing activity of the Rio Grande captaincy between the 17th and 18th centuries and the conflicts arising from the possession of fishing villages. The specific contexts of the various quarrels will be explained in order to understand the coexistence of different possessive mentalities of the individuals involved. It also sought to analyze who were the owners of the captaincy fisheries and what their practices by examining the management of the fishing activity over the same period.
