Abstract

The applications of stylistic studies in the area of ​​teaching and learning the Portuguese language can encourage students to take a different look at the functionality and effect of stylistic features in discursive practices. Based on the precepts of Coseriu (1979,1992), Câmara (1978) and Bally (1951) on the valorization of the affective aspect in the composition of the linguistic sign, we understand that there is a need for an analysis proportional to its complexity. However, the multifaceted view (morpho-syntactic-phonetic) proposed in classrooms does not include other aspects of Linguistics, such as Stylistics, which investigates how the effect of meaning is attributed to the lexicon stated. This article aims to reflect on the contributions of Stylistics in expanding linguistic skills with regard to the interpretation of expressive resources in communicative uses and linguistic production with authorial marks. The stylistic analysis strategies discussed here conclude that it is imperative to have a linguistic awareness that allows us to differentiate the effect caused by the deviation from the norm, as a use accepted by the language as a system, and the (d)efect caused by the deviation from the norm in use, which although it is accepted by the language, it is considered inappropriate for the communicative context. Therefore, the student interlocutor will be able to differentiate between the error or unacceptable linguistic variety and the deviation or stylistic strategy of expressiveness.
