(DES)ARTICULAÇÃO DE CLÁUSULAS: PROPOSTAS ANALÍTICAS PARA A INSUBORDINAÇÃO
Keywords:
(Des)articulação de cláusulas, insubordinação, padrão formal, função pragmáticaAbstract
This paper aims to offer a theoretical overview concerning the status of insubordination considering the current proposals regarding the phenomenon, based on data obtained from the corpus built by Affonso Jr. (2024), which was made up from feuilleton publications as well as romances published throughout the XIX century. We believe such an overview is necessary considering the fact that, in recent literature, different definitions and proposals have aroused trying to categorize the phenomenon. Therefore, we set the hypotheses according to which formal patterns and pragmatic functions are not unilaterally connected and more than one mechanism of development may be attached to different behaviors of insubordination. The essay is divided into two sections. In the first one, from the analysis of six different developing mechanisms proposals, we examine the axis synchrony x diachrony, non-prototypical alternatives towards insubordination and the form x function category. This first stage reveals how different the hypotheses on the emergence of insubordination are and, at the same time, how different proposals tend to benefit functional subjects as if they were in charge of insubordination, often placing the formal aspect as a supporting feature, usually dependent on the funcion. In the second stage, we aim to examine a proposal which closely looks into the Portuguese language, distinguishing formal and functional aspects of insubordination, allowing our analysis of the phenomenon to detach unilateral relations between formal patterns and pragmatic functions. We intend to conclude this paper having established a sort of systematization considering the available information found among specialized literature, evidencing a sort of convergence that sets apart insubordination itself from the traditional ways of analyzing clause combining. The results found by Affonso Jr. (2024) prove the main hypotheses connected to the overview we propose.
