Phytase and alpha-amylase activity are positively associated with seed vigor of common bean seeds
Abstract
Seed vigor is one of the main attributes when referring to the physiological quality of a seed lot. Thus, there is a need to identify which mechanisms are used by seeds of higher vigor that favor the formation of seedlings with better performance. In this context, the phytase and the alpha-amylase enzyme activity can be determinant for seed vigor, since they favor the availability of phosphorus and sugars, respectively, during germination.
