Abstract

Aiming on determining the effects of increasing doses of nitrogen on pepper cv. Tabasco McIlhenny yield, a study was carried out from September, 2003 to January, 2004 in Pentecoste farm division of the Universidade Federal do Ceará. A completely randomized design with three replicates was applied. Nitrogen doses were 0; 75; 150; 225; 300; 375 and 450 kg.ha-1. The assessed parameters were fresh weight of plant aerial part, number of fruits per plant, average weight of fruits, and plant yield. Results showed that application of increasing nitrogen doses produced an increment in most of the parameters studied, excepting average fruit weight. Plant highest yield (16,5 t.ha-1) was obtained with application of 450 kg.ha-1.
