Abstract

Why Liberalism Failed é uma obra publicada em 2018 nos Estados Unidos da América pelo professor de ciência política da Universidade de Notre Dame, Patrick J. Deneen. O autor articula uma ampla crítica à ideologia liberal abrangendo tanto o liberalismo clássico, identificado à direita republicana no cenário americano, quanto ao liberalismo progressista, identificado à esquerda democrata americana. A tradução da obra foi publicada no Brasil pela Editora Âyiné, em março de 2020, sob o título Por que o liberalismo Fracassou?. A presente resenha da referida obra visa a apresentar os argumentos sustentados pelo autor. O texto de Deneen adota uma metodologia exploratória por meio de revisão bibliográfica de obras do pensamento liberal.
