Abstract

Feminist Epistemology is characterized for considering how gender issues influence our concepts of knowledge, our scientific researches and productions. This paper aims at presenting the development of researches on Feminist Epistemology and its problems. The research is justified since Feminist Epistemology has been raising questions regarding gender prejudice inside scientific production in multiple areas of knowledge. The theme has been being approached since the 1980s, by proposing methodological changes. Thus, it is needed to evaluate what are the effects of such analyses on academic production. The paper is divided in two parts. In the first one we will present the concept of Epistemology as a philosophic discipline, by rebuilding the path through which a feminist approach of it is necessary. In the second part, we will discuss how Feminist Epistemology has questioned scientific narratives and enabled a review of methodologies and practices of research, both in Natural and Social Sciences.
